Portraits allow each animal’s unique personality and features to shine. Equine Fine Art sessions emulate the artistic look of a studio environment, but are created right from the comfort of your own barn aisle. There’s never a bad time to honor your equine friends, but common occasions for sessions include the welcoming of a new show partner, the celebration of a beloved senior horse’s life, or even just redecorating. These images make spectacular wall art and offer a timeless look that will show off your horse and perfectly complement any home, barn or office space.

The Experience & Investment

Due to the highly detailed hand-editing process necessary in creating each of these portraits, they are priced at an all-inclusive rate rather than through a “session+collection” format used for my Horse & Rider sessions. 20% of the session fee must be paid upon booking in order to secure your spot on the calendar. Your proofs will be made available as high-resolution files only after the remainder of your session payment is complete.

I. BOOKING & PLANNING

Connect with me using the contact form! Once we’ve decided on a time and place and have discussed your goals for the session, I’ll send over a contract and invoice to get you officially booked! You will also receive a questionnaire so I can get to know you and your horse, and I’ll send some session styling and preparation tips.

II. SESSION DAY

The day will arrive for us to create your portraits! I’ll guide you through your session while keeping everything as stress-free and fun as possible. All you will need to do is hold your horse and guide them through my posing instruction. Clients are often amazed by how quickly their horse begins to act like a professional model!

III. GALLERY DELIVERY

The big reveal! I’ll email a link to your private gallery where you can view your images right from your computer or phone. Equine Fine Art sessions are all-inclusive, so the photos in your gallery will be available for download as high-resolution files as soon as you have completed the full payment on your session.

III. WALL ART & PRINTS

Bring your portraits beyond the screen and into your hands! I offer beautiful photo prints, wall art, albums and other products in collaboration with trusted professional labs. Orders can be placed conveniently through your digital gallery. Every order is personally inspected to ensure you receive the highest quality.

CUSTOM REQUESTS

The traditional “black background” look is most popular for Equine Fine Art sessions, but I can also provide more custom looks with colored/textured backgrounds, embellishments, etc.

If you are booking sessions for multiple horses and you would like a portrait that shows both/all of them in one image, I can create that for you through digital compositing.

Composites and custom requests will require consultation and will incur additional fees.

Investment FAQs

  • The contract provides clients with the legal reassurance that all services covered by your session fee will be completed upon payment, and outlines exactly what is included in your investment so that there is no confusion on what you will receive and how you are permitted to use your images.

  • Once you’re booked, I will share a guide providing you with preparation and styling tips that pertain to your selected session type.

  • I will be keeping an eye on the forecast during the days leading up to your session, and if I believe the chance of rain, snow, lightning, or dangerous winds is too high, I will reach out to reschedule your session. As my openings are limited, I am unable to reschedule sessions due to cloudy weather or cold/hot temperatures (unless severe enough to be dangerous). Both sunny and cloudy days have their advantages, so your portraits will be sure to turn out beautifully even if the weather does not seem to be ideal.

  • On average, clients receive their galleries within 2-3 weeks. Turnaround time on wall art & prints varies depending on item. I recommend booking as early as possible if you would like your photos complete by a particular date. Rush processing may be available in some cases for an additional fee if discussed and agreed upon before the day of the session.

  • The photos from your session will be narrowed down only to those that meet my artistic and technical standards. The images received in your gallery are the only ones that will be available for viewing.

  • While some session types allow multiple subjects, two separate clients may not split a session. For example, a couple’s session would, of course, cover photographs of two people- but only through the type of portraits intended for this session type. Two friends who want solo portraits cannot schedule one multi-person session type and split the time and cost; they would need to book as separate clients with separate contracts.

  • Each equine fine art photograph is carefully edited by hand with a digital pen tablet, bringing a painterly quality to each image.

    Clients will not have the opportunity to view or purchase any unedited photos, as they are incomplete products and do not meet my standards for deliverable photographs.

  • The digital files that are included with your session are yours for personal use. You may share them freely; credit is not required (but is always appreciated). You will also be given a print release granting you permission to print your files for personal display; although I highly encourage you to have them printed professionally through my trusted lab. Please note that a print release is not a copyright transfer, and you are purchasing your images for personal use only. Photographs may not be altered or edited by clients or outside parties, and it is unlawful to use them commercially without purchase of a separate commercial license.
